Recipes for Eid-al-Adha in 2022
Worldwide, Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Adha, which is of great significance to them. Regarding Eid-al-Adha's origin, The Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (ﷺ
), is reported to have said, "It is a custom that has come down to us from Hazrat Abraham علیہ السلام."
As the culmination of Hajj or Pilgrimage, the fifth pillar of Islam, Eid-al-Adha, enjoys special significance.
Our article lists some of the traditional foods that are usually cooked on Eid.
Kaleji
Most households prepare kaleji (liver) for Eid-al-Adha. The irresistible aroma of its sizzling aroma fills the air early in the morning after Qurbani. People also enjoy it as an energizing Eid breakfast.
In Sindh and Punjab, kaleji cooking is a common tradition.
A fresh liver doesn't smell bad, so most people prefer to cook kaleji immediately after Qurbani. It is recommended to rub salt on it before washing it to get rid of the foul odour when cooking it later. You can also eliminate the smell by adding garlic and fresh coriander during cooking.
The following is an easy and quick recipe for Kaleji that will serve four people:
Ingredients:
Mutton/beef liver, 500 grams
Ginger paste, 1/2 tsp
Garlic paste 1/2 tsp
chilli powder 1/2 tsp
Yoghurt 1/4 cup
Garam masala 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Ghee/Oil 2 tbsp
Grated onions 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves as a garnish: 2 tbsp
Method:
Kaleji should be cut into pieces and mixed with ginger, garlic, chilli powder, yoghurt, garam masala, and salt. Once the onions are golden-brown in ghee, add the kalonji. The spices should be fried until the oil separates from them. Once the pressure cooker is running, add half a cup of water and cook it for five minutes under high pressure. Garnish and serve the water after it has been completely dried.
Paye
The Punjabi cuisine of paye has been a staple for generations.
You'll want more of this soupy dish made from goat's hoofs and beef's hooves. The pressure cooker has shortened the cooking time, but many people still prefer to slow cook it, sometimes overnight, and eat it for breakfast or lunch. It would be best if you served the dish with hot tandoori naan.
